SWEDISH MASSAGE

This technique targets the muscles and therapeutic work to relieve tension but can also be used for relaxation. This massage is performed on a table and the massage therapist uses massage oil or cream. This type of massage is the most popular one in North America.

DEEP TISSUE

Highly recommended for persistent and / or recurring muscle pain, this massage aims to relax the deep muscles. The maneuvers are slow and specific. The resulting relaxation allows you to regain freedom of movement. The therapist uses little or no oil.

KINESITHERAPY

Kinesitherapy is therapy through massage and movement (mobilizations). It aims to return to full movement. In Quebec, kinesitherapy is a massage therapy technique, in the sense that it is only practiced with the hands and body of the practitioner, without tools or machine. It is extremely effective for all pain caused by muscle tension and joint stiffness due to physical inactivity, mechanical overload or joint degeneration. For a specific problem or pain, the therapist will use tests to allow safe intervention with the client and to determine if the case can be treated or if it should be referred to another healthcare professional.

Work can be done on the skin, muscles and tendons, as well as ligaments to help the client regain freedom of movement in the greatest possible range. If necessary, exercises will be suggested for prevention and treatment follow-up. Kinesitherapy can be accompanied by cupping and taping treatment, as needed.

ORTHOTHERAPY

Orthotherapy is manual movement therapy combining physiotherapy and massage therapy. It operates mainly in the muscles and joints to relieve pain and correct posture. She can help you:

  • Relieve musculo-articular pain.
  • Relieve joint stiffness.
  • Decrease the effects of stress and anxiety on the body.
  • Soothe chronic pain.
  • Prepare the musculature of athletes.
  • Calm muscle spasms.

CUPS OR VACUUM THERAPY

Cups are made of rubber, air is drawn between their wall and the skin, sucking the skin. The skin peels away from the muscle envelope, the fascia, and loosens adhesions. The application of suction cups promotes the elasticity of the muscles and the skin, while toning the epidermis.

This is a painless but slightly uncomfortable technique. Some people even enjoy the feeling. When the massage therapist integrates them into a full session, he will warm and massage the targeted area first before applying the suction cups. He will then massage the other areas of the body during this time.

Among the benefits of cupping massage, we mainly find the reduction of the effects of stress on the body, reduction of muscle tension, decrease in adhesions, improvement of blood and lymphatic circulation and stimulation of the immune system.

Note that a cupping treatment may leave marks on the skin ranging from pale red to dark purple. A suction cup mark is the result of a positive and therapeutic process. These marks normally disappear within a few days, and in rarer cases within 2 weeks. The marks decrease in intensity each day before disappearing completely.

If this approach interests you, just specify it when you make your appointment.

TAPING

These little adhesive elastic bands are surprising. After application, people experience much less pain and / or feel much more comfortable going about their daily lives with more stability. They are increasingly used in massage therapy to:

  • Reduce pain.
  • Relieve a pressure point.
  • Decrease edema.
  • Stimulate a weak muscle to contract adequately.
  • Stabilize a joint.

They are used for several pathologies such as epicondylitis, tendonitis, bursitis, herniated disc, sprains, plantar fasciitis, torticollis, neck, lumbar, rib or even thoracic pain and postural disorders.

When applied, the taping can stay in place for 3 to 5 days. It can go underwater and sticks very well. There is no specific contraindication to taping. It is used with children and the elderly and with competitive athletes as well as workers and occasional athletes.

Do not hesitate to contact us to make an appointment for kinesitherapy and taping.
